The use of vellum and foldouts creates an interactive experience just like pulling back and folding the layers of clothing. With each layer comes a new adventure.
For Leia, she deserves a gatefold fit for a princess and a four-page spread to match. Here the focus was on the inspiration, creation, and how she felt about the most talked-about outfit in the galaxy.
Leia’s outfits were of the most intricate within the trilogy with multiple accessories and fabrics. It is very obvious, the multitude of color and fabric, in these sketches as compared to Luke’s and Han’s.
The sketches for Chewbacca were of the most intricate and lively of all the characters. A downward fold-out seemed fitting for his tall and substantial figure and also to highlight the detail given to his fur.
